Rare Edwardian Shoes by Hellstern & Sons, Paris, Shoemakers to the Prince of Wales and the Czar of Russia, ca. 1905
Elegant Edwardian Shoes with Original Cut Steel Buckles
This fabulous pair of Edwardian shoes, dating to approximately 1905, was produced by the prestigious Parisian firm Hellstern & Sons Brevetés, celebrated as shoemakers to both the Prince of Wales and the Czar of Russia. Combining refined craftsmanship with aristocratic provenance, these shoes represent the sophistication and quality expected from one of the leading luxury shoemakers of the early twentieth century.
The shoes retain their original and highly decorative cut steel buckles, which remain in good condition. During the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, cut steel ornaments were prized for their ability to catch and reflect light, creating an effect similar to that of fine jewellery. Their elegant sparkle made them a fashionable choice for formal and evening footwear.
Luxury Footwear in the Edwardian Era
At the beginning of the twentieth century, fine shoes were regarded as an essential component of a well-dressed woman's wardrobe. Elite shoemakers such as Hellstern & Sons catered to aristocratic and affluent clients who demanded exceptional quality, comfort, and style.

The elegant proportions and sophisticated decoration of this pair perfectly embody the refined style associated with the final years of the Belle Époque.
