Mules from the Rococo period, ca. 1770. Origin: France or England. Leather insole. Heels made of wood covered with light leather. The base fabric of the shoes is likely to be a linen fabric. Silk was glued on top of it. Poor condition. Ruffles on the edge of the mules. The applied silk is crumbling, the ruffles are hard and would break. The inner sole is stained. Still: the shoes have survived the last 250 years and are still there today. Even that is a small miracle. The decoration (book and jewelry) is not included.
