Women's shoes from the late Baroque period, ca. 1730-1740. Origin: England. English shoes from this period often had a robust, thick heel - just like these shoes. Ladies spent the longest part of the year at their country estate. They only went into town or to a seaside resort for social occasions or to shop at the tailor or shoemaker.
Black silk. Wooden heels. Leather sole. Lined inside with leather and linen. In very good condition for their age. Two professionally repaired side areas. Minor rubbing to the sides and toes. Extremely rare to find in this condition.
The shoe buckles are not from the shoe and are more recent. In very good condition. The decoration is not included.
