Women's shoes from the late Baroque period, ca. 1720-1730. Origin: England. English shoes from this period often had a robust, thick heel - just like these shoes. Ladies spent the longest part of the year at their country estate. They only went into town or to a seaside resort for social occasions or to shop at the tailor or shoemaker.
Ribbed silk or silk on which appliqués were applied. Wooden heels and shoe tips made of wood. Leather sole. Lined inside with leather and linen. In excellent condition for their age. Discreetly scuffed toe tips. Extremely rare to find in this condition.
The shoe buckles are not from the shoe, but are definitely from the period. One missing stone. In very good condition. The decoration is not included.
