Rare men's riding hat, ca 1890. Dutch label: H. Wigersma Sz * Leeuwarden. Beaver or mole fur'. Wide black ribbon. Black rep ribbon with buckle. Paper/cardboard lined interior. Wide leather band all around (inside). Moderately well preserved. Signs of age and wear. Riding hats from this period have survived very rarely. There are many pictures - especially of noble gentlemen - wearing such hats: Emperor Franz Josef of Austria, Emperor Wilhelm II of Prussia, the Prussian Crown Prince and many more.
