The style of the time (Germany: Biedermeier; France: Empire; England: Regency) was to have ringlets on the side of the face. We have taken the portrait of the Countess Pallavicini, Vienna, as a successful example of this style. But for the woman who wasn't blessed with a great head of hair, this wig was certainly the answer! The hair on the crown is woven into an intricate pattern. The brim has rows of tiny pin curls and the sides have attached rolled curls. The wig slips on the head like an elastic cap. A fabulous piece! Extremely rare and unique. Assuming made from dark brown woven human hair. Excellent condition.
