The association (Deutscher Offizier Verein) was founded in 1884. The purpose of the association was the inexpensive procurement of uniforms, luxury goods and manoeuvre supplies. The association had over 40,000 members, extensive workshops and large warehouses. The business premises in Berlin were renamed ‘Warenhaus für Armee und Marine’ in 1892.
