Rare Georgian Calash Bonnet from around 1790. Designed to protect women's large 18th century hairstyles from the elements. It is collapsible and made of silk. Due to its age it has got the usual age holes, marks and rips. All that said though this bonnet is still is reasonable condition for its age, over 230 years old. The silk is thin in some places and has minor holes. Hardly visible when the hood is draped. A wonderful piece of antique millinery history - to drape and display. Or: just to collect and enjoy. The decoration is not included.
