Very rare calash, ca. 1790. It is crisscrossed with thin rods so that it can be unfolded and folded. It is made of brown silk. It served as a weather protection at the time of high rococo coiffures. Given the age of about 230 years, it is in very good condition. Few stains and holes. Missing chin straps. A wonderful piece of antique millinery history - to drape and display. Or: just to collect and enjoy. The decoration is not included.
