Antique carriage umbrella, ca. 1860. Origin: England. Cream-green silk covering with a floral motif. Umbrella tip and handle are made of bone. Fringes around the edge of the umbrella and at the tip. Metal cartouche (most likely silver) in the center of the handle with the inscription "Sangster". Probably the maker W & J SANGSTER, 140 Regent St. London. Folding. Very well preserved. One open seam. Minor stains. Minor cracks in the inner shade. Rare to find. A similar umbrella of the same company exists in the V & A Museum, London.
