An Attractive Irish Crochet Lace Folding Parasol, 1860s. The carved lower shaft slightly grainy, most likely bone, the finial and shaft end with loops, and carved to complement the flowers entwined on the handle. The cream cover is of handmade crochet, designed with a frill. The cover is lined with pale lilac silk, itself then lined with cream silk, both with scalloped edges. The ribs and slider are metal, the upper shaft appears to be wood painted cream. Lace in good order, the cream silk lining layer is just starting to split. The parasol cannot be adjusted without tearing the lace.
