Beautiful English tailoring from the end of the 18th century. The man's suit is made of fine wool. It consists of a coat and trousers.
The coat is curved at the front and decorated with six cut steel buttons. Slightly curved high collar. Black cord stripes on the chest, probably intended to resemble buttonholes. The jacket is fastened with hooks and eyelets. Two false pockets, which are also decorated with buttons made from cut steel. The same buttons can also be found on the cuffs of the long sleeves and in the walking slit area at the back. Lined with silk on the inside. This is worn in some places. Otherwise in very good to excellent condition. A small hole on the back; a small missing part at the front (on the left side). We have draped the coat with a chest insert with frills from the late 19th century. We have left it with the coat. The piece of jewellery is not included.
The trousers are made from the same fabric. The back is cut higher than the front; it merges into the waistband. Front fall; two small pockets on the left and right. A gusset and two embroidered buttonholes on the back. Buttons on the front to fasten the braces. There are four cut steel buttons on the outer leg seams. Two buckle straps each. The pockets and cuffs are lined with bleached cotton, the front with ivory-coloured silk. In excellent condition.
