Antique-Gown

Light tan quilted silk petticoat lined with brown glazed cotton. The petticoat is quilted with a zig-zag pattern at the top and a stylized floral pattern at the hem. The waistband extends to form the ties to close the petticoat at the back. The overall condition of the petticoat is very good to excellent with some general soiling around the hem with some thinning in the hem binding. There is a faint brown spot on the front hip with a darker brown spot on the back hip, closer to the hem. Provenance: Deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum, USA.
