A large silk fan from ca. 1900, mounted on bone, this being lightly incised with a floral design. The cream silk satin is painted in pastels with pink and apricot daisies, and slender leaves. The leaf is topped with marabou feathers in a shade of pale grey. The verso is plain cream cotton. The loop is finished with a cream silk tassel fitted with a plaited loop to secure the fan when closed. The silk fan is generally in good order, one stick has moved inside the double leaf, and the loop of celluloid is a replacement.
