The fan box of a rich officer's wife: Mary Douglas from London. Mary kept her favorite fans in this box. For this purpose, she had a box specially made with her initials at A. Barrett & Sons in Piccadily Street. Four larger compartments had room in this exquisite box. They have been stowed in two compartments, one above the other. This is the first box of this type that we have seen. We found it in an English fan collection. The box is in good condition. Abrasion on the lid. The fans are not included.
