This antique Victorian Era B. Altman & Co. New York gold lamé sequin carved folding fan and box dates from ca. 1890. It is made of a sheer gold metallic lamé mesh net fabric with hand sewn tiny gold sequin beading with a variety of shapes done in a bow, wheat stalk garland design. This fabulous folding fan has fancy carved relief bone sticks and guards with gold gilded highlight accents, a mother of pearl rivet holding the fan together at the bottom with a brass ring and has a unique scalloped tiered sides oval shape with sequin trim edging. It comes in the original box stamped inside "B. Altman & Co. New York" which measures 12 1/2 inches long. It is in excellent condition. The decoration is not included.
