An enchanting champagne satin wedding trousseau robe that has been de-accessioned from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, ca. 1880. The front opening and sleeves are trimmed with white swans down. The sleeve cuffs are trimmed with blonde lace. There is a wide area of ruching at the back neckline. The bodice is lined with cotton and has a hidden front button closure. The robe is in very good and sturdy condition. There are no splits or holes and no underarm discoloration. There are a few tiny pencil tip size age spots and a small section of missing down on the front opening. The decoration is not included.
