Extremely rare traveling dress, ca. 1858. Dresses of this type were used for traveling in a carriage, on a ship or by train. The antique dress is a two-piece consisting of a round skirt and a jacket. Eggshell colored linen fabric. The jacket/top closes in the front with buttons (all still there). Two side pockets, each decorated with a button. On the other hand, there are two buttons on the folded cuffs. The dress still bears the marks of many trips: it has some stains and 1-2 tiny holes. Travel dresses were often worn out and/or thrown away. This one has survived. And that's a bit of a sensation. The bag comes with the dress, but the jewelry does not.
