An unusual dress that has two tops: one for the evening and one for the afternoon reception. Both were worn in England around 1860. This unique dress is made of royal blue moiré silk. It is striking that each of the parts is decorated with different lace. It is almost as if this dress is a textbook in different patterns in the lace. But that gives it even more charm.
This time we'll start with the skirt in the description. This has the typical shape of the skirts of this period. It ends in a train. At the back there is a puffy bottom structure, which is decorated with lace at the edge. A belt made of blue silk and lace completes the whole. The belt closes at the back and has a decorative bow. In good condition. Slightly dusty hem area. Some (few) stains. One repaired area.
The daytime bodice fastens at the front with buttons covered in blue silk. The shoulder and sleeve areas are decorated with blue velvet and lace. Long sleeves with small lace cuffs. In very good condition.
The evening bodice has a semi-circular neckline that can be shaped with a blue velvet ribbon. Embellished with lace, tulle and net tulle. The tulle is still there both at the bust and on the short sleeves. Only the neckline is missing a little lace and tulle. Front closure with buttons covered with blue silk. The bottom button is missing (the belt covers the empty space). In very good condition.
