Romantic Period wedding gown, ca. 1845. Ivory silk having long collared sleeve, the collar open along outer edge and tied with self bow, deep V-neck with a ruched organdy insert having five silk bands with cord decoration, deep front point with double self piping, very full skirt with gauged gathers, glazed cotton lining. Very good to excellent condition with a few minor flaws: Very minor wear and soil in hem area, faint stain at back closure, stain on skirt back hidden in folds, stain on the bodice backside, small seam separation, bow at back waist partly detached. The decoration is not included.
Provenance: Helen Larson Collection (purchased from Doris Langley Moore). Helen Larson was a collector based in Whittier, California. She owned a successful film costume rental business and amassed a world-renowned private collection of historic fashion. She was a brilliant connoisseur and historian.
