Ball gown from the Romantic period, ca. 1840. Gowns of the late Romantic period were often made in one piece (the bodice attached to the skirt) – like this beautiful antique dress. The gown is made of mauve satin with dots and polychrome posies. Long collared sleeve trimmed in looped cord. Pleated V-neck – typical for evening and ball wear. Bodice with gentle point and self piping, full skirt having gauged gathers. The dress is in very good condition taking into consideration the age. Only a few small underarm stains and a few spots on back. A few little holes. The decoration is not included.
