Rare stomacher from Germany, ca. 1740- Made of a hard material that is easily bendable. Covered with linen on the back and with silk and gold brocade on the front. The tip is covered with black fabric and slightly curved. This shape applies to the whole stomacher. We are of the opinion: There is no fabric missing on the tip. The stomacher has been made and worn like this. Probably parts of the bodice or the caraco covered the black fabric. The gold brocade fabric was too expensive and too valuable to be used for the invisible parts. Good condition. Slight abrasion in the red silk.
