Very rare so-called "Robe Manteau" (coat dress) from France, ca. 1770-175, worn together with a skirt (Jupe) and a triangular plug (Piéce d'estomac /Stomacher). These garments were worn over a hoop skirt or breading. This robe is open at the front. Tight-fitting top. Deep pleats in the back, typical of the robe à la Française. Pagoda sleeves with single tiered flounces. Decoration in pleats in the chest area, which is three-dimensional from the waist on. The darts/cartouches are lined with cotton. Very well preserved. Discreet signs of age and wear. A few insignificant stains. Decoration is not included. Very rare to find.
