Caraco, ca. 1760. Origin: probably France. The caraco is a lap jacket popular until the 1790s, often worn with a skirt of different color. Made of an embroidered silk fabric. More precisely: fine brocaded fabric in the color of coral, embroidered with flowers and ribbons. On the jagged hem: coral colored silk taffeta. Square neckline. Inner closure with eyelets (not visible from the outside). Lined with linen. Remnants of silk ribbon lace at the cuffs. Very good to excellent condition. Lining is lightly stained. Decent wear marks. Decoration is not included.
