A unique and very authentic going out ensemble, ca. 1880. Origin: Scottish collection. The ensemble consists of a two-piece dress, hood, handbag, umbrella and shoes.
The dress is made of purple silk. Typical bustle (inside a bustle cushion in red). Decoration with cross-striped silk and ribbons of wooden beads. On the back there are two-tone ribbons and bows. Half-length sleeves, small stand-up collar lined with tulle inside. The top is closed in the front with hooks. It is additionally laced (original lace is present). Very well preserved.
The umbrella is made of black silk; curved wooden handle; silk bow for decoration; the parasol can be tilted - thanks to a hinge. Very well preserved.
The shoes made of black velvet are embroidered on the front. Light leather insole. Discreet signs of age and wear.
Plush handbag; the material could also be called "fake fur" (faux fur). Leather lined interior. Metal clasp. Good condition. Traces of wear and age. Dimensions: ~ 20 x 16 cm (including handle).
The hood is a successful combination of silk, tulle, wire, lace and sequins. The implied "ears" should make the wearer appear taller. Very well preserved.
