A brilliant yellow bourette silk robe à la Française, circa 1760. With ruched graduated robings and cuffs, together with a quilted satin petticoat and a triangular stomacher formed from 18th century brocade. For the age and sensibility of fabric: good condition. Dress: great colour but splits and repairs in the silk. Soiling to skirt centre back and lots of large repaired splits to rear hem generally. Piece of extra fabric added to restore original line of rear hem. Brown spot stain at top of left sleeve. Slight soiling and three pink spot stains at front right skirt. Petticoat: wear to satin generally, new waistband, large stain centre front, yellow plain cotton panel on seat area is a modern restoration. Stomacher: good condition. Very rare to find. The decoration (incl. shoes) is not included.
