Very nice antique bustle dress, manufactured in the Princess style, ca. 1878. Dresses, which were tailor-made in this fashionable style, should emphasize the figure extremely. They were all one-piece and were only worn for a short time. They are very rare to find. The name comes from the English queen Alexandra, Princess of Wales. She made these dresses presentable. Tailored and worn they were only a few years, so a dating at this point is easy.
This dress is made of a green brocade fabric - with a large leaf motif. Closure with mother-of-pearl buttons. Lace at the sleeves. Large bow in the bustle area. Inside lined with glazed cotton. The antique dress runs out in a train. Very well preserved. A few seams are open in the area of the bows. This can easily be repaired. Flaking on the mother-of-pearl buttons.
