Very nice antique bustle dress, manufactured in the Princess style, ca. 1878. Dresses, which were tailor-made in this fashionable style, should emphasize the figure extremely. They were all one-piece and were only worn for a short time. They are very rare to find. The name comes from the English queen Alexandra, Princess of Wales. She made these dresses presentable. Tailored and worn they were only a few years, so a dating at this point is easy.
This dress is made of brown silk - and beautifully decorated with bows. Pink and brown bows are attached to the sleeves, hem, neck and front. Closure with porcelain buttons with bird motif. The dress is beautifully pleated in the front. Small watch pocket, which is attached to the side. Typical bustle for the dresses of this time. Inside lined with glazed cotton. The antique dress runs out in a train. What is extreme, extremely rare, is the photo of the wearer. Her name was Adelaide Locke White. She was born on September 29 1844 and married Charles J. White on November 1 1878. This dress is probably even her wedding dress. Very good to excellent condition. A button is missing. Tiny stains. In one hip area a few discreet discolorations. The decoration is not included.
