2-piece of black silk faille mourning dress, ca. 1879. Chest area, sleeves and lower part of the bodice are decorated with passements, tassels und jet pearls embroideries. Black lace and embroideries on the cuffs of the sleeves. Ruffled front of the skirt. Elegant train. The dress reminds on the mourning dress from the Austrian Empress Elisabeth (Sissi). Funeral, receiving guests during the 6 months of mourning then they would switch to a dark blue or dark gray for another 6 months. Depending if they were parent, sister, girlfriend, mother, etc. Different mourning rituals for all of them. Excellent condition. The buttons of the bodice seem replaced. The decoration is not included.
