Two-piece antique bustle ball gown, ca. 1882. The dress is made of extremely rare yellow silk. We have chosen the colour goldenrod. The top has a semi-circular neckline, short ruffled sleeves, an elongated snip part and lacing at the back. The skirt has ruffles at the front. At the back it forms the typical - high - bustle of the dresses of the early 1880s. The design reminds of the polonaise style dresses of the 18th century. Interior lacing. Sleeves and skirt are decorated with lace. The dress comes from an American museum. The museum number is attached to one of the sleeves. Well preserved. A small missing part at the top (back). Some stains in the silk - both in the top and the skirt. Darkened lace. The hem area is somewhat soiled. Open seams in the "Cul"/bustle area. A small tear in the waist area of the skirt (front). General: discreet signs of age and wear. Decoration is not included.
