A very rare lingerie dress from the time of the bustle dresses, ca. 1880. Origin: France. The term "lingerie" refers to the fabric, more precisely to the thin fabric. Lingerie dresses were summer dresses that were often worn for strolling on hot summer days, or they were used at garden parties. This antique dress is a two-piece consisting of skirt and top/bodice. Small, stylized fruits, tendrils and leaves are woven into the fabric. The top is closed with buttons at the front. V-neck, long sleeves, typical peplum. The skirt runs out in a train and shows the typical shape of the skirts of that time. Parts of the skirt are folded. Lush finish. Very well preserved. Two tiny tears in the chest area, rusty spots (inside) on the hooks and eyelets of the wide waist band and on the hooks and eyelets of the skirt closure. Probably the dress has been washed long time ago. Very rare to find. The decoration is not included.
