Exceptional and very rare ballsports ensemble from the Empire period, ca. 1815. Origin: France. The ensemble consists of: Shoes, dress, caraco/spencer, racket and bonnet. The jewelry is not included.
Dress: is a thin muslin dress. It is laced in the front. Long sleeves. Small lace trim at collar. In ruffles laid hem. In good condition. Some holes. A tear in the fabric in the lacing area (more like an open seam). Spencer/Caraco: Made of cream cotton. High waist. Long sleeves. Peplum on the back. Probably a summer jacket worn over the thin muslin dresses of the period. Good to very good condition. One small hole on the left side, in the area of the chest neckline. Racket: gut stringing; handle with deerskin. Moderately well preserved. Stringing is flawed. Shoes: challis fabric. Blue pattern on brown background. Heel area and toe of shoe are brown leather. Shoelace closure. Interior lined with canvas. White leather insole, brown leather outsole. Very good condition with subtle signs of age and wear. Bonnet: Brown corduroy fabric; lined inside with light cotton fabric. Well preserved.
