A rare Emile Pingat embroidered kashmir visite or dolman, circa 1880, labelled '30 Rue Louis le Grand, 30, Paris', of dark brown velvet, appliquéd and embroidered turquoise blue pashmina and appliquéd palmettes, with filligree metal clasp, edged with silk bauble tassels and chenille fringing. Good to very good condition. The front of the visite is generally good - the blue pashmina and brown velvet areas are good as are the fringes. However the rear neck, collar, shoulders, and centre back areas of brown velvet have perished generally and there are splits in the fabric ground. The embroidery and colours are generally good. Brown satin lining is generally very good. The decoration is not included.
