Very elegant, two-piece overdress from the late 1870s or early 1880s. The overdress was - as the name suggests - worn over a dress made of silk (or other fabric). The skirt is open at the back. It is closed with hooks and eyelets. The hem is decorated with embroidered lace. The top - made in the style of a jacket - is closed at the front with cords. The design reminds of the dresses in princess style. Long sleeves with wide cuffs. The dress is made of woven silk lace. This is very elaborate - and probably embroidered by hand - with white glass beads from Bohemia. The very high-quality petticoat from the 1880s does not originally belong to the overdress. It is made of cotton gauze and very well preserved (smallest holes in the front area). It is delivered with the dress. The dress itself is in good to very good condition. A few tiny stains, the one or other glass beads is certainly missing. Smallest tears in the lace in the hem area. All this does not do any harm to the elegant appearance of this antique dress. Very rare to find. We had hundreds of antique dresses in our hands in the last years - but not one like this yet. The decoration is not included.
