Two piece evening gown, ca. 1889. Woven petersham label: “Duvel and Eagan, Robes, 24 East 23rd St., N.Y." The dress is made of yellow silk satin having an overlay of white tulle. The boned bodice is decorated with pearls, gold beads and paste jewels. Short puffed sleeve having two tulle ruffles appliqued with metallic gold and white embroidered leaves, large bow to one shoulder, pink silk corsage to the other. Satin waistband. Skirt having wavy bands of ruched tulle to satin beneath floral appliqued tulle with embroidered butterflies. Very good condition with a few flaws: Minor bead losses, small splits to silk at waistband, minor holes in tulle, bodice lining torn and reinforced, shattered hem facing.
