Elegant 4-piece reception gown made of grey-blue silk, ca. 1865, from the end of the American Civil War. Overskirt, peplum and neckline/neck decolletage are decorated with silk fringes. Silk bow on the chest. Silk applications on sleeves, overskirt, peplum and bodice. Typical skirt-shape for this time! Very imposing! The condition is good to very good. As with most antique silk dresses also has these dress underarm discolorations. Little stains. The hemline of the skirt is a little bit dusty. These do not interfere with the wonderful overall appearance of the dress. The decoration is not included.
