Extraordinary antique dress with a day and evening bodice, ca. 1889. Paris label: Manteaux & Confections * Robes * Mms. Bordeux Soeurs * 19 Rue Duphot * Paris. The two golden coats of arms and the indication "Brevetées" suggest purveyors to the court. The fabric is a heavy brocade fabric which is striped. Flower tendrils and tendrils with hearts/garnet apples adorn the fabric. The evening bodice is sleeveless and runs towards the front in a pointed snow. It is laced at the back. The skirt is attached to the top with eight hooks and eyelets. The same applies to the day top. The day top has long sleeves. Cuffs with seven buttons, fringes and a decorative net. These elements can be found also in the skirt. The bodice is closed at the front with a cord and hooks. Beautifully gathered fabric in the chest area. Pointed neckline. The skirt is pleated at the front. It is elaborately decorated on the one side. It has the typical bustle of the dresses of the late 1880s. Inside a small bustle filled with horsehair. Small train. The three-part antique dress is in an excellent, near pristine condition. A few tiny stains. The decoration is not included.
