Patterned and floral silk brocade bodice, late 18. century, with a square neckline, short sleeves, zig-zag trim around the hem, and a flounced hem at the center back. The brocade is trimmed with red chiffon around the waist and back. The bodice is lined with cream cotton. The material for this bodice is believed to be reused from an earlier, 18th century item. The overall condition of the bodice is very good. The bodice appears to have been created with fabric from a previous era with additional signs of alterations. The lining shows some staining around the seam lines and the red chiffon is worn in many areas. Provenance: Deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum, USA.
