When this dress was worn in Vienna in 1845, Karl Leopold Joseph Franz Marcellin, known as the Good, was Emperor of Austria and King of Bohemia. It is one of the few dresses we have found in Austria. It is made of a blue-grey brocade silk fabric with a floral motif. The antique dress is a two-piece suit. The skirt falls in the typical bell shape of Biedermeier skirts. Lined on the inside with light-colored, glazed cotton. Inside the hem area: a lace dust band. The top is pleated at the bust. Pointed train. Fringed trim. Short cap sleeves with small, pleated cuffs. Closure at the back with hooks and eyelets. In excellent condition. A few of the eyelets (made of thread) are torn. The decoration is not included.
