Wow! A rare Biedermeier dress from the year 1837. Origin: Germany. The antique dress is made of milk chocolate-colored silk. The dress is a one-piece. The long train and V-shaped bust are typical features of a dress from the Biedermeier period. Dresses from the 1830s can be identified by the shape of the sleeves: the sleeves in the upper arm area are usually very narrow, while those in the lower arm area are very voluminous. The bodice is beautifully pleated and decorated with trimmings. Silk fringes are also attached to the sleeves. Closure at the back with hooks and eyelets. The skirt falls in the typical bell shape. The sleeves are lined on the inside with a net, the skirt with glazed (two-tone) cotton. In excellent condition. Very few tiny stains, one tear on the side of the skirt, which can be skillfully hidden in pleats. The jewelry is not included.
The skirt has tie strings on the inside to gather the skirt. We have photographed the dress with the gathered skirt. The first picture shows the skirt without this gathering.
