Over the years we have had many extraordinary dresses in our hands. But none like this one. This is probably the most splendid ball gown from the early days of the crinoline. Origin: France, around 1855. The dress is made of pink silk and covered with black tulle and net tulle. Top and skirt are sewn together (perhaps they were separated in the past). Inner pocket in the skirt. Short sleeves decorated with light net tulle. Semicircular neckline. The chest area is decorated with a velvet bow and fabric flowers. On the right side of the skirt this decorative element is repeated. The top is laced at the back. The skirt closes with hooks and eyelets. The inside is lined with a cotton fabric. Very good to excellent condition. A few stains. Probably a few very few tears in the tulle. A rare museum piece. The decoration is not included.
