When this Victorian afternoon dress was worn, the War of Secession or the American Civil War (1861-1865) was raging in America. However, the dress originates from Europe, more precisely from England. The antique dress is made of an emerald green-purple silk (shimmering). The dress is a three-piece consisting of a skirt with a train, a bodice and a belt with a bow at the back. The dress is decorated with green and cream-colored border fringes. The matching buttons on the top are decorative buttons. The dress is fastened with hooks and eyelets, both the top and the skirt and belt. In very good condition. Subtle signs of age and wear. Discreet underarm stains. The decoration is not included.
