Elegant one-piece wedding dress, ca. 1879. Made in princess style. American label: A.M. Vail, 219 West 53rd St. Antique dress is cream; made of a heavy damask fabric with floral motif. Small stand-up collar with tulle ruffles. Tulle was also used on the cuffs of the long sleeves (attached on the outside). The top closes in the front with buttons; inside reinforced with corset stays. In the front part of the skirt satin-silk is pleated. In the center there are two rows of contrasting color rosettes in the shape of flowers. The hem of the skirt, which ends in a long train, is placed in small pleats. Wide "belt" attached to the dress, ending in a bow at the back. Very well preserved. Light soiling on the edge of the train. Lace has been processed on the inside of the hem. There are some tears here (probably caused by dancing). A small hole in the front area. very few tiny spots. The decoration is not included.
