Antique-Gown

Suspended from the waist, the skirt lifter was used to lift the hem of a dress or skirt from the dirt of the street. The hem was locked between two discs and a pull on the attached cord lifted the hem free of the ground.

This skirt lifter is one of the oldest we have ever had. It is attached to a short chain, which in turn is attached to a belt clip. Especially if you wanted to have both hands free, this was a good way to still gather your skirt. In good condition.
