A wonderful figural example of these highly collectible skirt lifters, and ingenious invention to clip to the bottom of a lady's skirt and with the cord lifted away from the water and dirt of the Victorian streets.
The clips are marked "Fyfe's Patent" and on the other side "Registered Sept 21 1876". This one is decorated with a delightful Butterfly with stunning repousse decoration. This one is lucky enough to have it's original black cord on, quite amazing considering it's age. Very good condition. The cord is torn.
