Antique-Gown

Lavender corset, ca. 1880. Origin: American collection. The fabric is a cotton sateen decorated with decorative machine quilted appliqués in cream and orange (in the area of the bust cups). Cream lace at the top edge. A color coordinated ribbon is pulled through this lace. Embroidered decorations at the bottom of the bars. The breast bar is a so-called "spoon clasp", a steel bar shaped in the form of a spoon. This also gave these corsets their English name: "spoon busk corsets". Inside still the original laces to adjust the cup size. Enameled eyelets, original corset laces. Excellent condition. Light discoloration and minor stains. Very rarely worn.
