If this corset came from England, it would have been worn in the Regency period. If it came from France, it would be an Empire corset. However, it comes from America, which makes it even rarer and more valuable. It is made from cotton fabric. Eyelets made of bone to make it easier to lace up the back. The owner's name is written in ink (Julia A. the rest is illegible). The corset bears the number 7 and was probably part of a wedding trousseau. Very, very rare. In good to very good condition. The edges are fraying slightly; a few tears on the inside (but not visible from the outside). The decoration is not included. Provenance: David Moses, NJ. Antiques collector.
