A very rare girl's dress from the Biedermeier period, probably around 1845. These dresses are rare because they were often worn or changed. Or: if they had too many stains, they were thrown away. Cultural background: America. Made of printed cotton. The children's dresses from this period (like this one) were fashionably modelled on the dresses of the adults: bell sleeves, front snood, pleated skirt, piping on the top. The dress is well preserved, but has some stains, wear spots and faded sleeves. The dress comes from "The Museum at FIT - Fashion Institute of Technology" (New York). The decoration is not included.
