A girl's dress from the time of the first crinolines, ca. 1856. Children's dresses are often difficult to date. It could also be even older, i.e. from the late 1840s. Cultural area: America. Made of printed wool with green and red floral motifs. The dress is poor to moderately well preserved. It has some holes and signs of wear in the fabric, a few tears and a large repair in the skirt. Nevertheless: very, very rare, just because it is made of wool. The dress comes from "The Museum at FIT - Fashion Institute of Technology" (New York). The decoration is not included.
