Top of a bustle dress, ca. 1800. German label: Rom & Wagner * Würzburg. A rare evidence of a high tailoring art in Germany. Due to war and destruction, and thanks to the austere post-war period, when all the fabrics that were still there were reused, only a few garments from the Imperial and Wilhelminian periods have survived. This top has survived, but unfortunately the matching skirt has not. It is made of a reddish silk complemented with orange velvet in the chest area and cuffs. Front closure by means of buttons (all present), nicely elaborated peplum, high stand-up collar, long sleeves. Well preserved. A few discreet stains, one missing spot in the velvet. The decoration is not included.
Chest: ~ 81 cm
Waist: ~ 60 cm
